One of the accomplishments she is most proud of is the time she served on the South End Task Force, also known as the South End Action Committee, which led the discussion that resulted in the opening of Capital South Campus Center (CSCC) in 2014. During this time, she advocated for quality affordable housing in the city, co-sponsored legislation that established a vacant building registry, and sponsored legislation to establish the Citizens Police review Board in the city of Albany. She served three terms on the City of Albany Common Council, having first been elected in 1997 and went on to become President of the Common Council in 2009. One of the most famous books we did was the 'Christmas Box' and when we took over, we sold over 300mn copies.Įven as self-publishing gives a chance to promising authors, the publishing industry did not see the potential for it. ![]() Over the years, we also have got authors who had done self-publishing, first. Self-publishing started off in America when some people initiated it and became successful. But it's not our core business, and remains another option. Do you think self-publishing can become a successful model?Ĭarolyn Reidy: At S&S, we went ahead with self-publishing because we thought that was the future. The desire to read and engage in high in India and yet it remains a challenge for publishers in India to reach out better. At the moment, the Indian volume is relatively small, and we believe it has a lot of potential for growth. We want to give Indian users an international platform.
